3. LA LANDE DE SAINT-LAURENT

La Roche l'Abeille: exceptional moorland

The site of La Roche l’Abeille is well known for its famous battle in 1569 with King Henri de Navarre, better known as Henri IV! But nature here is exceptional: on the path of the Saint-Laurent moor, serpentine outcrops, a rock that emerged from the oceans 300 million years ago. Its characteristics give the flora here a remarkable interest. A walk in the south of the Haute-Vienne, in the heart of nature, in a totally different and unique setting!

4. Ségur le Château

Most Beautiful Villages in France

This picturesque medieval town in Correze, just a stone’s throw from the Haute-Vienne, is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. It lies on the banks of the Auvézère and is dominated by the imposing remains of its castle.

There are a number of walks you can do on your own, as a couple, with the family or with friends: a discovery trail through the village (with historical interpretation panels); 3 hiking trails, one of which leads to the Lasveyras bridge (a place of Resistance and Remembrance) and the PDIPR-listed sentier des deux collines (trail of the two hills). And if you’re a child, you can go on a hunt for the little“plaizentins”!

5. THE KAOLIN LOOP

Coussac-Bonneval

Coussac Bonneval is known for its famous Château de BonnevalIf you’d like to take a guided tour of this magnificent family home, we recommend you do so.

Before or after your visit, why not take a walk along one of the many footpaths: the kaolin loop takes you past the old kaolin quarries, lanes of chestnut trees and along the banks of the Valentine stream… The best thing about this path is that it’s shaded, and you can picnic by the Etang de la Marche.

An unmissable stop-off in Haute-Vienne!

6.THE UPPER ISLE VALLEY

Countryside destination: La Meyze

Destination countryside for a walking tour just a few minutes from Saint-Yrieix La Perche: in the Haute Vallée de l’Isle, the charming village of La Meyze is a haven of greenery to the south of Limoges.
At the heart of the village is a church dating back to Carolingian times, whose patron saint is Saint Michel. The church is home to a listed 17th-century gilded polychrome wooden statue of Saint Roch and his dog.
Two chapels at Notre Dame du Rocher and in the hamlet of Champsiaux complete this heritage.
Farming is mainly focused on Limousine beef cattle and cul noir pigs, so why not pay a visit to one of our “Chez Dufour” breeders?
It’s worth noting that the farms and houses in the village have been put in bloom by enthusiasts. A typical Haute-Vienne village!
