1. Forêt des Vaseix, tour du grand bois

in Verneuil-sur-Vienne

Hiking trail features: Yellow markings, duration on foot 1h30, length 6 km, altitude difference 50 m.

Accessible on foot, mountain bike and horseback.

On the outskirts of Limoges, the Vaseix forest is a popular destination for walkers and sports enthusiasts alike, with its many well-maintained paths. There are 3 routes to choose from (la promenade de Chamberet: 2.5km, la promenade de l’étang: 3.5km and le tour du grand bois: 6km).

2. Les Aubespins path

in Saint-Junien

Hiking trail features: yellow markings, walking time 3h00, length 12.5 km, altitude difference 142 m.

Accessible on foot, mountain bike and horseback.

The Les Aubespins trail in Saint-Junien runs alongside the Glane stream, with sections of undergrowth and a view of the Monts de Blond.

3. Tour du Lac de Saint-Pardoux

Hiking features: Yellow markings, walking time 6h00, Length 24km, Ascent 300 m. Difficult level.

Accessible hikes: on foot, mountain bike / specific markings and routes for horseback riding.

The 330-hectare Lac de Saint-Pardoux offers a wide range of water sports and activities. Hiking offers unique views of the lake and varied landscapes. Autumn is the best season to enjoy the flowering heather!

There are many variations on the circuit, allowing you to shorten or lengthen the itinerary. Mountain bikers beware of roots in the undergrowth!

4. The path of the Grandmont monks

in Saint-Sylvestre

Hike features: Yellow markings, walking time 5h00, Length 19.5km, Vertical rise 224 m. Medium level.

In the footsteps of the Grandmont monks… This monastic order developed in the heart of the Monts d’Ambazac in the 12th century. Today, a few traces of this past remain. This hike takes in the heart of the Limousin forest, with many viewpoints.

5.le Bois du Curé et des mille Diables trail

in Châteauneuf-la-forêt

Hiking information : Yellow markings, walking time 4h00, Length 16km, Difference in altitude 223 m. Difficult level.

Accessible on foot, mountain bike and horseback.

Departing from Châteauneuf-la-Forêt, you’ll set off on a hike that takes in the rolling landscapes of the Limousin mountains, small villages with traditional buildings, the lake and the departmental forest. It’s also an opportunity to observe the beautiful autumn colors.

6. Vienne gorges trail

Hike features: Yellow markings, walking time 1h45, Length 7km, Vertical rise 200 m. Difficult level. Option to explore the Vienne gorges (duration 3h45 / 14.8km).

Accessible on foot and mountain bike.

In the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional Millevaches, hike along the banks of the Vienne. Numerous views over the surrounding countryside.

7. Boubon forest circuit

in Cussac

Hike features: Yellow signposting, duration on foot 1h30, length 6.5km, altitude gain 106 m. Easy level.

Accessible hikes: on foot, mountain bike and horseback.

What could be better than a family walk in the forest to enjoy the autumn lights and orange colors? There’s a viewpoint at an altitude of 470 m, with an orientation table, and a hardwood hut.

8. Fairy wood trail

in Breuilaufa

Hiking information : Yellow markings, walking time 3h00, Length 12km, Vertical rise 175 m. Medium level.

Accessible on foot, mountain bike and horseback.

In the heart of the Monts de Blond, the Bois des Fées trail is steeped in the local legend that gave the commune its name, Breuilaufa = “Fairy Wood”. Numerous menhirs and dolmens in the area, such as those at Betoulle, bear witness to the ancient presence of man on this land.

9. Sentier des belles vues

in Burgnac

Hike features: Yellow signposting, duration on foot 1h30, length 6km, elevation gain 80 m. Easy level.

Accessible on foot, mountain bike and horseback.

This is a brand-new hiking trail just 20 minutes from Limoges. A stroll through the Burgnac countryside with its open landscapes. An ideal hike for the whole family.

10. shepherds' and tile-makers' path

in Château-Chervix

Hiking information : Yellow markings, walking time 2h50, Length 11.3km, Vertical rise 60 m. Medium level.

Accessible on foot, mountain bike and horseback.

This hike allows you to discover the natural site of La Flotte and Le Cluzeau, and access the serpentinite rock massif known as “Roches du loup”. The route also offers numerous viewpoints over Les Monêdières and Mont-Gargan. Autumn is the best time to discover heather in flower.

11. le chemin des hêtres

in Cieux

Hike features: Yellow markings, walking time 2h20, Length 9.4km, Vertical rise 76 m. Medium level.

Accessible on foot, mountain bike and horseback.

The Chemin des hêtres in Cieux offers panoramic views of the Monts de Blond. Along the way, you’ll come across some remarkable trees and ponds…

12. steeples and ponds circuit

in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat

Hike features: Yellow markings, walking time 3h45, Length 14.8km, Vertical rise 76 m. Medium level.

Accessible on foot and mountain bike.

The circuit des clochers et des étangs takes you through the medieval quarter of Pont de Noblat and small villages with traditional buildings. Along the way, you can enjoy panoramic views over Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat.
