1. Lac de Vassivière

Naturally essential

At the Lac de Vassivière, known as the “little Canada of the Limousin”, a change of scenery is guaranteed with a pike fishing trip in a setting of unspoilt greenery at the heart of the magnificent Millevaches Regional Nature Park.

Boasting an impressive population of pike and other predatory fish, the Lac de Vassivière offers numerous fishing spots across its 1,000 hectares of water and 45 km of shoreline.

Set out to encounter the king of the pike from your boat in the middle of the Lac de Vassivière, comfortably settled on the forest-lined banks, or lying in wait in a float tube near one of the unspoilt islands…

2. Lac de Saint-Pardoux

A playful and generous nature

The Lac de Saint-Pardoux is a major tourist attraction in the Haute-Vienne… And it’s also a real paradise for anglers, set in the heart of the unspoilt natural area of the Limousin!

Classified as a Category 2 lake, its 330 hectares are home to a healthy population of pike, as well as other predators and cyprinids: zander, black bass, perch, rudd, tench…

The coves at Fréaudour and Villebert are the most renowned spots for catching the finest pike on the Lac de Saint-Pardoux. So now we’re looking forward to seeing photos of your best catches!

3. Rénier Pond

A pond dedicated to predator fishing

Located in the commune of Saint-Pardoux, just a stone’s throw from the lake of the same name that we’ve just told you about, is the Étang Rénier!

It’s a must-visit spot for any angler keen to try their hand at pike fishing in Limousin! Indeed, this 9-hectare lake is specifically dedicated to predator fishing. This fishing reservoir is open to anyone holding a fishing licence with the ‘Carnadrome’ or ‘Specialised Routes’ option.

Fly fishing, lure fishing, spinning or casting rods, float tubes… it’s up to you to choose your tackle and then come and take on the king of predators in Haute-Vienne!

The added bonus? Best of all, this site is open all year round.

4. La Vienne

Naturally pleasant and attractive

The Vienne is a river renowned for the quality of its waters and the presence of numerous species of fish. In particular, you’ll find some excellent stretches for fishing for pike and other predatory fish on this river in the Limousin region.

Here are our favourite spots on the Vienne for pike fishing:

  • In Limoges, between the Saint-Etienne Bridge and the Saint-Martial Bridge: 2 km of fishable riverbank right in the heart of Limoges, between the two historic bridges over the Vienne.
  • In Saint-Junien, from the Île de Chaillac sur Vienne at the confluence with the Glane.
  • At Le Palais-sur-Vienne, at the 45-hectare reservoir
  • At Saint-Léonard de Noblat, upstream of the Moulin de Beaufort
  • In Saint-Brice-sur-Vienne
  • At Aixe-sur-Vienne

All fishing techniques are possible here: from the bank, from a float tube, using natural bait, or bottom fishing (with a long rod, match rod or feeder)… you’ll love fishing for pike on the Vienne!

5. Lake Sainte-Hélène

Lake Sainte-Hélène in Bujaleuf is a peaceful stretch of water on the River Maulde, much loved by outdoor enthusiasts…and anglers in particular!

Classified as a Category 2 fishing lake and covering an area of 56 hectares, this lake in the Limousin s is a true paradise for fishing for pike and other predatory fish: zander, perch, black bass…

It’s worth noting that the lake also offers a ‘Family’ route to introduce younger visitors to the sport.
