An invitation to explore the Limousin to the gentle rhythm of your steps or pedal strokes. 🌿

Where all paths cross

Between the Vienne valley and the Millevaches plateau, Saint-Léonard de Noblat is the ideal starting point for the great crossings of the Limousin on foot. The mythical GR® 654 to Santiago de Compostela and the GR® 4 from coast to coast pass through here, as does the brand-new GR® de Pays Monts et Barrages in Limousin, linking the medieval town with the Mont Gargan and the Vassivière lake. 🚶‍♀️‍➡️

Soon, the GR® 89 – the Montaigne trail – will complete these exceptional itineraries. Set off on a wilderness adventure where each hiking trail tells a piece of the history of the Limousin. 🥾

The Limousin by bike, from Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat

At Saint-Léonard de Noblat, cycling becomes a journey. Here, pedal to the beat as you discover the unspoilt countryside between the PNR Millevaches and Périgord-Limousin.

Take the new V93 cycle route – the aptly named Vélidéale – to link Lake Vassivière to the Atlantic. Or follow in the footsteps of the Vézelay pilgrims on the V56, a route steeped in history.

Fancy a loop? Head for Limoges, Lake Saint-Pardoux and the Creuse before returning to the home of the legendary Raymond Poulidor.

At the heart of the Limousin, the spirit of roaming blows through Saint-Léonard de Noblat.

Just a stone’s throw from Limoges, Saint-Léonard de Noblat is an essential stop-off point for those who like to get away from it all, whether hiking or cycling. Here, three GR®, one GRP® and two cycle routes meet at the gateway to the Millevaches plateau. 🚲

With its well-preserved historic centre and its collegiate church, listed by UNESCO as part of the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago de Compostela, the town perpetuates the spirit of medieval pilgrimage while cultivating its exceptional skills: Limoges porcelain, paper, leather… 💚
