When the stones
awaken at Christmas

Christmas night transforms the Limousin into a land of wonders. At precisely midnight, when the bells ring out across the valley, the show begins! Imposing rocks rise gently, revealing glittering caverns.

In Blond, the Rochers de Puychaud open up to reveal heaps of gold and precious stones.

Near Fromental, the Menhir des Fichades rises twelve times to the rhythm of the stroke of midnight, offering a unique chance to discover the hidden treasure.

But be warned: it all disappears at the last stroke of the bell!

DID YOU KNOW?

These moments suspended between heaven and earth have inspired generations. Even today, these majestic sites await you for a walk full of mystery and wonder.

The guardians
of the treasures

Behind every stone is a story that touches the heart. In the Monts de Blond, a poor widow climbs the hill of Puy-Chaud with her children on Christmas Eve. When the rock opened at midnight, dazzled by the gold, she rushed up… but the stone closed in on her children! A year later, a miracle: they reappeared, peaceful and grown up. She hugs them, without a glance at the riches.

In Montrol-Sénard, the Pierre Servière tells a similar story, in which a white pigeon protects the captive child. These timeless tales remind us that the real treasure is the ties that bind us together. Come and walk along these emotionally-charged paths and let yourself be carried away by the magic of the legends of the Limousin.

Living stones in an enchanted Limousin

The Limousin at Christmas has other extraordinary surprises in store: here, the stones move and roll! In the wild Brame valley, the Pierre Sarrazine descends on Christmas Eve to drink from the river. In Montrol-Sénard, the Pierre Servière rolls down the hill to the pond to drink before returning to its place.

In the leather town ofSaint Junien, the young oak trees around the Sainte-Hélène rock start dancing on Christmas Eve when the bells ring out.

Would you like to experience this magic on a grand scale? Put on your boots, breathe in the invigorating air of our valleys and set off on a winter hike around the legendary sites of the Limousin. Where the boundary between reality and wonder becomes deliciously blurred…
