Our selection of Legends stones

Unusual in their shape, surprising in their characteristics, these rocks have one thing in common: they have inspired the local inhabitants. Mystical stories and legends abound!

La Pierre Branlante in Cieux

Think you're Obelix without the potion!

This 120-ton rock is balanced on a few contact points on another rock. With a little effort, you can swing this rock from east to west.

This rock was once used as a court of law: if the accused managed to move the rock, he was declared innocent.

La Roche aux Fées shelter

Legend has it that the shelter is the ruins of an ancient fairy palace.

Recent excavations have uncovered remains and structures attesting to the shelter’s long occupation during prehistory (from 10,000 to 1800 BC, i.e. from the Final Magdalenian to the Bronze Age).

Below, you’ll find a cascading stream amidst spectacular granite scree.

The Ceinturat Menhir

At 5.10 metres, it is the tallest menhir in the département. It is buried at a height of 2 metres. Come and measure yourself against it.

And on the heart side, for those who want to put all the odds on their side: try to reach the cornice halfway up by throwing a stone at it. If you succeed, you’ll be married within the year!
