The “Rural Nostalgia” trail through the village will take you to 17 authentic places: the “Chabatz d’entrar “* house and its cowshed, the bakehouse, the washhouse, the village school, the cobbler’s workshop and many more… 👀

René Baubérot Museum

Châteauponsac

Designated a “Musée de France” in 2023, it provides an introduction to local history.

Housed in the village’s former priory, the museum presents, among other things, scenes of life in the 19th century, with all the everyday objects and clothes of the time. 👗

Handicrafts play an important role here, with a large collection of tools and reconstructed workshops, such as the basket-making workshop. ⚒️

You’re free to continue your journey back to the Gallo-Roman era… 👀

Le Moulin du Got

Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat

This 15th-century paper mill has been restored with the help of the town of Saint-Léonard de Noblat.

Open to the public for 20 years, it bears witness to a rich paper-making past in the department. 📜

Paper is still made here in an environmentally friendly way. You’ll also discover the printing workshop. 🫟

A demonstration of the linotype will transport you back to the time of Gutenberg.

Workshops for children and adults are also offered throughout the year. 👀

The Hemp and Glove Museum

Cognac-la-Forêt

In Cognac-la-Forêt, the Musée du Chanvre et de la Ganterie (Hemp and Glove Museum) takes you to the heart of two of the region’s most emblematic crafts.
Between heritage and modernity, discover the cultivation of hemp, a plant of yesterday and of the future, through ancient tools, demonstrations and contemporary applications (food, cosmetics, eco-construction…).

You’ll also be following in the footsteps of an exceptional craft: luxury glove-making, for which Saint-Junien and the whole region are famous. Machines, accessories and precise movements tell the fascinating story of how a pair of leather gloves was made. 🧤

Temporary exhibitions and a shop selling organic hemp products complete the visit. 👀

Marcognac

Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche

It was near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche that one of the first veins of kaolin, an essential element in the manufacture of porcelain, was discovered. 👀

In Marcognac, buildings located near the old quarry have been preserved.

The guided tour provides an insight into the daily tasks of the male and female workers to extract the kaolin, and thus take part in the boom in the manufacture of Limoges porcelain in the 19th century. ✨

Casseaux Oven Museum

Limoges

It is the symbol of the porcelain industry in Limoges, and the last round kiln with an inverted flame still standing in France. 🔥

In the early 1900s, at the height of activity, there were more than a hundred porcelain kilns on the banks of the Vienne in Limoges. ✨

Listed as a Historic Monument since 1987, the guided tour, led by enthusiasts, will take you on a journey back in time, and you’ll learn all about the human and technical prowess of the history of the porcelain industry. ⏳

Frairie des Petits Ventres

Limoges

The traditional folk festival of Frairie des Petits Ventres in Limoges originally brought together the stalls of the city’s butchers and tripe-makers, back in the Middle Ages. 🥩

It takes place every year on the 3rd Friday in October in the heart of Limoges in the rue de la Boucherie. 🧡 🥳

You can always find the popular Limousin dishes: boudins aux châtaignes, pâté de pommes de terre, galetous and other flognardes. 😋
