Description
Inauguration of the Université Populaire du Pont Saint-Étienne
On the program: a small farmers’ market, a string quartet featuring musicians from the Opera, activities led by the guide-lecturerÉric Boutaud, who will recount the history of the site, and the cinema, which will screen a film about the association that left its mark on the history of the banks of the Vienne.
Education by citizens was the primary mission of the People’s Universities. As in the past, neighborhood residents will be able to play cards or pétanque—and why not organize some tournaments? Open to everyone, this “People’s University” promotes a spirit of camaraderie. Culture will also have its place. Partners from the arts community have already come to check it out. The goal is to bring together young people, middle-aged adults, and seniors.
