For the past ten years, choreographer Louis Barreau has focused his research on the intersection of music and choreographic composition. Here, he takes on one of the masterpieces by Béla Bartók, a genius of 20th-century music: his three piano concertos, each with three movements, and transforms them into a piece for nine dancers. Drawing inspiration from the score’s extraordinary architectural power, Louis Barreau takes us on a journey from intimate nocturnal music to fiery dances, not to mention images of popular festivals, across ages and cultures.
