At a glance
Adrien Dubouché Museum in Limoges

That’s good timing, because at the Musée Adrien Dubouché, it’s not all about the arts of the table: you can choose from around ten themed tours with the “MNAD Limoges” app.

“I don’t want to see a plate”, “Unmissable works”, “Contemporary art”, “The journey”, “The artists”, etc. To each his or her own discovery of a selection according to his or her desires, among 5000 works on display!

Eager to get off the phone📱? With the family trail, a mysterious sketchbook will also be fun with children aged 7 and over.

There’s also quite simply the traditional discovery tour: with a circular trail, there’s no chance of going round in circles! From the stages of porcelain manufacture, to the history of Ceramics from Antiquity, right up to the present day, it’s the world’s richest collection of Limoges porcelain that awaits you.

We like it: the “Works in 3D” trail for virtually manipulating the museum’s objects 😉

The quest to master fire

Casseaux kiln museum in Limoges

Want to find out more about the human adventure of the porcelain industry?

Classified as a historic monument, this unique round kiln known as the “reverse flame” kiln, still standing in France, is THE place to go to find out more about the technical and artistic history of porcelain. ✨

What’s at stake? Mastering fire! 🔥

10,000 to 15,000 pieces per firing, a week for each batch. Man’s ingenuity, the difficulties of the successive firing processes… The tour will make you imagine the technical prowess of the era and its social history: a real human symbol.

Take advantage of the Museum’s ideal location to buy a porcelain souvenir in the shop, visit the factory right next door, take a stroll along the banks of Vienna 😉

Get your hands dirty!

Le Moulin du Got in St Léonard de Noblat

A 15th-century paper mill, the Moulin du Got will teach you all about sheets of paper, from how it was made by hand to the first continuous paper machine. You’ll be put through your paces on the guided tour, but aprons are optional. 🤭

After the blank sheet, the printing press! 🖨️

Gutenberg, typesetting and the linotype will hold no secrets for you. The museum is a place of demonstration and production: hands-on experience for active and exciting visits.

What we love about the Moulin du Got is that it’s also a creative space open to artists.

Think about signing up for one of the graphic arts workshops, there are ones for young and old budding artists. 🖌️

Memory of the servicemen of Haute-Vienne

Museum of the Resistance

The Limousin is known for being a land of strong and active Resistance during the Second World War.

At the heart of the cité district, the Museum of the Resistance and the Occupation is packed with numerous objects (including a plane!) and documents dating from the 1939-1945 period. A space dedicated to the men and women who sacrificed themselves to defend the values of the Republic, it is an essential place of remembrance.
For a family visit, we recommend a minimum age of 8 due to the difficult subject matter.

With the free “Résistance en Poche” app, 8-13 year olds (and their parents😉 ) will be helped by virtual friends from the era to understand the events from 1933 until the end of the War, and win medals!!🎖️

Enamel, the beautiful one!

Limoges Museum of Fine Arts

A majestic building in the heart of the historic Cité district, and Jardins de l’Évêché overlooking the Vienne valley… It’s off to a great start! And it’s just as beautiful inside.

From the paintings of Renoir or Suzanne Valadon to the Egyptian antiquities that everyone loves, it’s the enamel collection that makes the Museum😍 internationally famous! The arts of fire, enamel… It’s impossible to get to know the Haute-Vienne without visiting this former Bishop’s Palace.

What we love about the Musée des Beaux Arts are the itineraries on offer: with “l’humeur du baladin”, there’s a visit for every mood! Themed leaflets can be collected from reception (top-notch! ) or downloaded, and take you on a discovery of a selection of works chosen according to a theme or your mood of the day – original, isn’t it?🤗

So, will you be more of a “blue flower”, a “stickler for detail”, or will you feel like “stars in your head” or “taking the liberty to laugh about it”?

It’s up to you to choose from 10 routes and take advantage of them to get to and from the museum. The collections are so varied that you’ll love going there, strolling through the gardens or along the Vienna riverfront, then coming back, before strolling through the narrow streets of the Cité.
