Due to an extreme heatwave, the 2026 edition of the Tour du Lac de Vassivière has unfortunately had to be cancelled to ensure the safety of the 2,000 participants and volunteers. Whilst we await the grand return of this legendary event, discover what makes this unmissable event in the heart of the Limousin 🏃

A venue and sporting events

Sporting events at an exceptional venue: Lake Vassivière!

  • The Tour du Lac de Vassivière, covering 23.4 km
  • The 26 km Nordic walking event
  • The 9.5 km trail run
  • Other events allow a wide range of people to take part in this major sporting weekend: an introductory Nordic walking session and a 9.5 km hike, as well as children’s races over 800 or 1,600 metres.

The programme

To give you an idea of what the event was like, here is the programme that was planned for the 2026 edition:

Race numbers can be collected in Auphelle from 10.00 am on Saturday 20 June and from 7.00 am to 9.00 am on Sunday 21 June

  • Saturday 27 June:

10.00 am: start of the ‘Tour’ Nordic walking event + 10.10 am: start of the ‘leisure’ Nordic walking event – 26 km along the riverside path
2.30 pm: introductory Nordic walking and hike – 9.5 km
5.00 pm: trail run – 9.5 km

  • Sunday 28 June:

9.00 am: Around the Lake – 23.4 km
9.30 am: children’s races – 800 and 1,600 metres
Pasta party on Saturday evening, Limousin barbecue on Sunday lunchtime, refreshment stand, food truck
Fitness warm-up at the starting line, 15 minutes before the start.

Why is the Tour de l’ Lac de Vassivière ’ a must-see?

  • The event takes place at an exceptional venue, in the heart of the Limousin : Lake Vassivière, covering 1,000 hectares
  • The Tour du Lac de Vassivière is a French classic (28th edition)
  • The Nordic walking event is part of the ‘National Nordique Tour’ calendar and follows the lakeside path; it offers the chance to rub shoulders with the best French and regional walkers
  • The nature race is a trail run that has gained momentum over the years, with competitors jostling for the fastest times

Entertainment

Throughout the route, runners usually come across several bands, including the Limouzi Samba Gang’s loyal troupe of percussionists.

Catering

For the 2026 event, a ‘PASTA PARTY’ under a marquee was planned for Saturday evening at the start/finish line in Auphelle (€8 per person), as well as a ‘BARBECUE’ on Sunday lunchtime after the race (€10 per person).
