Discovering Saint-Junien

01 Step

Saint-Junien getaway

Your cycling adventure in PNR Périgord Limousin begins at Limoges station. 🚆 It’s the department’s biggest station, providing many connections between the west (Bordeaux and Toulouse) and the north (Paris). There are two options for reaching the first stop on your cycling roadtrip: train or bus. If you opt for the bus, routes 200 and 180 provide a direct link between Limoges and Saint-Junien, allowing you to admire the Limousin countryside on your way. 🚌 🍃

02 Step

Collect your bikes

As soon as you arrive in Saint-Junien, head to the Tourist Office to collect your electric bikes (remember to book in advance to ensure you get your bikes).

The team will provide you with panniers that you can attach to your bikes to make it easier to carry your personal belongings. You can leave your empty suitcases at the Tourist Office and collect them when you return the bikes. 🚲

Once the practicalities are sorted, hop on your new bike and set off to explore the town of Saint-Junien and its cultural heritage.

For your first evening in the ‘ Limousin ’, we invite you to spend the evening and the night at the Comodoliac hotel and restaurant. 🍽️ 🛌

Make the most of this comfortable hotel to relax and enjoy a delicious dinner before setting off on your cycling adventure the next day.

You can leave your bikes in the hotel’s dedicated garage overnight.

At the end of your stroll through the town, head to the ‘Dans l’même panier’ grocery shop to book your picnic for the following day.

You’re not going to leave us already, are you…

13.9 km, approx. 52 mins

You’ve now reached the last day of your holiday in the Périgord-Limousin Nature Park. 😔

It’s time to say goodbye to your host and return your travelling companion (your bike) to the tourist office in Saint-Junien.

It may be the last day of your holiday, but that won’t stop you from making the most of it right to the very end!

We’ve planned a few activities for you today: a cycle ride to Saint-Junien, a visit to the Agnelle glove factory, and a picnic – so you’ll head home with your head full of memories.🤩

Your day begins with a trip to the Saint-Junien tourist office to return your bike and collect your suitcase. On the way, stock up on local produce for your midday picnic. 🥖

02 Step

Discover the art of leather craftsmanship

550 m, approx. 9 mins’ walk

Once you arrive at the tourist information centre, you can return the bikes and panniers and collect your suitcases.

You’ll then set off to explore a craft typical of Saint-Junien: leatherwork! To do this, we suggest a visit to the Agnelle glove factory – a local institution – or the Cité du Cuir, the museum of traditional craftsmanship.

The programme includes an introduction to the craft, demonstrations and more. You’ll leave this place with a deeper understanding of leatherwork.

03 Step

Picnic on the banks of the Vienne

800 m, about 10 mins’ walk

After your visit to the glove factory, why not sample the local produce you’ve discovered on your way from Rochechouart, on the Quai des Mégisseries, just below the Notre Dame du Pont Chapel? It’s a lovely spot for a picnic, and you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the banks of the Vienne before heading back. 🍃

We hope you’ve enjoyed this cycling holiday in the Périgord-Limousin Nature Park and that it’ll inspire you to explore other holiday ideas in Haute-Vienne at Limousin.
