Sentier des chênes

Le Dorat

Take a stroll through Haute-Vienne, starting with the architectural and natural heritage of the town of Le Dorat! 🌸

Le Dorat is just 50 minutes from Limoges and offers a charming 5.7 km loop, which can be completed in 1h30, taking you through the market town and the surrounding area of this small town of character.

Along the way, you’ll discover unsuspected landscapes and panoramas, revealing all the hidden beauty of the Limousin: don’t miss a visit to the majestic collegiate church of Le Dorat and its marvellous stained-glass windows, a true architectural gem ✨

Along the way, you’ll also be enchanted by the small-scale built heritage, including wash-houses, wells and crosses, witnesses to the region’s rural past.

👉 To extend the experience, Mortemart (most beautiful village in France®) and Montrol-Sénard are just 20 minutes away.

The periwinkle trail

Montrol-Sénard

Discover the Pervenches trail in Montrol-Sénard, a 4.7 km loop that takes around 1h15 to complete 🥾One of the most beautiful walks in Haute-Vienne!

Located in the Monts de Blond, this trail takes you to the village of Mortemart, listed as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France®” 💐

This short, easy-to-walk trail invites you to discover the rich built heritage, with its stone crosses and low drystone walls. Along the way, you’ll pass through hamlets and ancient villages, each offering a unique charm and fascinating history 🌿.

Along the way, discover the village of Montrol-Sénard and its “Nostalgie rurale” trail, bearing witness to life in this region in days gone by.

The village of Mortemart will enchant you with its castle, church and covered market 🏰

Bord Auzette circuit

Panazol

Just outside Limoges is the Auzette banks trail in Panazol, a charming 4.2 km loop that takes around 1 hour to complete 🥾

This trail invites you to explore the banks of the Auzette, offering immersion in nature rich in flora and fauna 🌸

Take advantage of this shady route, particularly pleasant in hot weather, to admire the stone bridges and the Bois des Biches farm 👀

What’s more, this Haute-Vienne hike offers connections to several other trails, allowing you to extend your exploration 🌿

Île de Navière interpretation trail

Chaillac-sur-Vienne

Discover this interpretation trail on one of the largest islands in the Vienne, a 2 km loop ideal for a family hike in Haute-Vienne, which takes around 1 hour to complete 🥾

Close to Saint-Junien (and 35 minutes from Limoges), the walk is dotted with small interactive terminals, revealing the treasures of this part of the island. You’ll have the chance to meet remarkable species such as the diving cingle or the water robin, visible during the autumn and winter migrations 👀

Today, Île de Navière is home to a farm dedicated to market gardening and animal husbandry. Here you’ll discover exceptional natural environments: the irrigation canal, the waterwheel and the farm.

The trail will also lead you to elements of small natural and built heritage, such as the pond, the ruins of the former pleasure pavilion and the funeral chapel 🌸

The stagecoach route

Bellac

Discover this 8 km hike, ideal for exploring the town of Bellac and the magnificent banks of the Vincou river 💦

Don’t forget to take a tour of theNotre-Dame de Bellac church, home to a 12th-century gilded copper-enameled shrine, as well as the Pont de la Pierre and the birthplace of writer Jean Giraudoux 🪶

The tour will take you to the Moulin Blanc, which in the 19th century was home to the famous Garceau foundry!

You’ll also discover the confluence of the Bazine. Along the way, stop at Moulin Matteau, a former Tan mill that bears witness to Limousin 👀’s industrial past.

This trail follows part of the old 18th-century royal road, adding a historical dimension to your stroll. In the village of Saint-Sauveur, you can visit the chapel of Notre Dame de Lorette, a serene place of worship.

Finally, the hill known as “le coche et la mouche” is a must-see: it’s here that Jean de La Fontaine is said to have found the inspiration for one of his famous fables.

Chemin de la Couture les Astiers

Blond

Discover this 3.5 km loop that takes 45 minutes to complete, a family-friendly walk in the Haute-Vienne region that takes in the charming village of Blond (after which the Montsare named!) and the hamlet of Couture les Astiers 🥾

Stop off along the way to visit the church, built between the 12th and 16th centuries ⛪️

The ponds encountered along the way add a touch of tranquility and natural beauty 🌸

Along the way, you’ll pass through several typical villages such as Le Châtenet and Le Charlet.

Dolmen trail

Saint-Laurent-sur-Gorre

This walk in Haute-Vienne takes you on the Sentier du Dolmen, a 6 km loop located in the 💚 Périgord-Limousin Regional Nature Park 🥾

This pleasant hike leads you to discover many points of interest, including a 4,000-year-old dolmen, listed as a historic monument.

Along the way, you’ll have the chance to visit the charming village of Saint-Laurent-sur-Gorre and the magnificent Jarosses moor. Our tip: take time to admire the dolmen, a fascinating testimony to the ancient history of Limousin!

The trail also takes you through the villages of La Côte and Mons, each offering a glimpse of authentic rural life in the Limousin. Nearby, the Liliane gardens are also worth a visit for their beauty and tranquility 🌸

Kaolin Loop

Coussac-Bonneval

Discover the Kaolin Loop, an 8 km hike that offers you the opportunity to discover a natural and architectural heritage 🌸

The walk takes you through ancient kaolin quarries and a former porcelain factory.

Next stop, a visit to the Château de Bonneval, dating from the 14th and 18th centuries. Still furnished and inhabited by the Bonneval family, it’s a must-see 🏰

Along the way, you’ll pass through the market town of Coussac-Bonneval, where the Etang de la Marche and the surrounding built heritage add a touch of charm to this Haute-Vienna hike 🥾
