Then follow us as we share our ideas for discovering contemporary art and artists… 👀

At a glance

Between art and industry

The Research Center for the Arts of Fire and Earth

It was in Limoges, in 1993, that the CRAFT was created, a veritable “laboratory of ideas”, with the principal mission of conceding the use of ceramics a singular place in contemporary art. ✨

A workshop for research and contemporary creation, the “Centre de recherche sur les arts du feu et de la terre”, invites creators from all over the world (designers, artists, architects etc) with varied practices to reinvent and develop projects around the ceramic material. 🔥

The association organizes and participates in exhibitions and conferences, artist meetings and guided tours of its studio to promote its actions, contemporary ceramic creation and resident artists.

On an island in the heart of the Limousin

Center international d'art et du paysage

Located on the island of Vassivière, the Centre International d’Art et du Paysage supports research, experimentation, production and dissemination of contemporary art. 🖼️

Unique in the French artistic landscape, the art center is known for its remarkable contemporary architecture designed by Aldo Rossi and Xavier Fabre, its permanent open-air collection, and its program of exhibitions, residencies, editions and events exploring art and landscape. ✨

Located on the Millevaches plateau in the heart of Limousin, it is firmly rooted in its rural context while weaving national and international links.

A castle as a setting

Musée d'art contemporain de la Haute-Vienne, Rochechouart

Over a period of thirty years, the Musée d’art contemporain de la Haute-Vienne has built up a first-rate collection now boasting over 1,300 works. 👀

As soon as the museum opened in 1985, ensembles were organized around the major historical movements born in the late 1960s, particularly those that explored the links between nature and culture, or Land Art. Similarly, representative groups have been formed around English sculpture and the continuities and discontinuities of painting.

Major figures in twentieth- and twenty-first-century art have also served as the nuclei of a collection attentive to the most current creation right up to the present day. ✨

In the heart of the Petite Cité de Caractère of Eymoutiers

Espace Paul Rebeyrolle

Designed by architect Olivier Chaslin, the Espace Paul Rebeyrolle was inaugurated in 1995. A unique, spacious and luminous venue, this art center houses a permanent collection of over 80 works from 1948 to 2005, among the most significant of Rebeyrolle’s work. ✨

The collection has been enriched over time, and presents paintings and sculptures in impressive formats all year round, as the exhibitions rotate, expressing all the senses and all the generosity of the materials.

Exhibitions, workshops, concerts and other events are offered throughout the year. 🎶

Art and books

Center des livres d'artistes, St Yrieix la Perche

The Centre des livres d’artistes has been based in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche since 1994. It is a repository for an extensive collection of artists’ books, both in number and quality, and an exhibition venue, the only one in France to show exclusively this type of publication. A bookshop was opened in 2007. 📚

The Centre des livres d’artistes has three main missions: to build up and manage a collection; to promote the collection in and outside the region; and to set up workshops for all audiences, raising awareness of contemporary art through books. ✍🏼

France’s third-largest collection in terms of size and quality (alongside that of the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the Bibliothèque Kandinsky – Centre Pompidou), the collection currently comprises some 6,000 works: books, magazines, posters, prints, postcards, CD-ROMs and DVDs.
