Paul Rebeyrolle (1926-2005) was born in Eymoutiers. He established himself as one of the major painters of 20th-century French art. His powerful, generous work is a call to freedom, a revolt against injustice, oppression, human alienation and blindness. It is also a hymn to the violent beauty of an indomitable nature. A true testimony to all times.
This unique, spacious and luminous art center houses a permanent collection of over 80 works from 1948 to 2005, among the most significant of Rebeyrolle's work. The collection has been enriched over the years, and presents paintings and sculptures in impressive formats, expressing all the senses and the generosity of the materials. Le Cyclope, a tribute to Georges Guingouin (1987), contains all the soul and spirit of the painting.
