2nd category watercourse south of LimogesOriginating on the slopes of the Mont Gargan massif, the Briance runs for 58 km through the heart of the Haute-Vienne before joining the Vienne downstream of Limoges. Small in size but generous in wealth, it is fed by numerous streams and flows through iconic sites such as the Gallo-Roman villa ofAntone and the medieval fortress of Châlucet. 💚
Its white waters are home to remarkable biodiversity. The water blackbird, discreet but emblematic of the rivers of the Limousin, finds a privileged habitat here. 🌿
For trout fishing enthusiasts, the Solignac leisure course is the place to be. Easy to access, the river bed is wider than elsewhere, making it ideal for beginners or families, especially when trout fishing opens. 🎣
4. La Couze
1st category fish river, downstream of the Saint Pardoux lakeA tributary of the Saint Pardoux lake, the Couze rises in the Monts d’Ambazac at an altitude of 600 metres. 🧭
This is one of the most beautiful rivers in the department and one of the best spots to meet dame fario. As well as great catches, you’re guaranteed to recharge your batteries with its arms winding through meadows, trees and rocks. The river is also dotted with wooden footbridges, stone bridges, torrents and mills. 😍
🪧 [PRACTICAL INFO] What are the rules for trout fishing in Haute-Vienne? No more than 6 trout may be caught per day and per angler. Catch and release is compulsory for all fario trout under 23 cm but there is no minimum size for rainbow trout. 🎣
