1. The Foire du Trône in Limousin

The “ Limousin Fair”, as it is nicknamed, has been the largest funfair in the Limousin region for over 50 years, and is one of the few still to be held in the heart of the village. For four days, the area undergoes a complete transformation; the streets are lit up by a wide variety of fairground rides, and fun is guaranteed: thrills, rides of all kinds for young and old alike, and tasty treats… 🎡
Every day from 3 pm to 2 am, the fair is in full swing; you’ll find yourself swept up in the electric atmosphere (whilst enjoying the occasional sweet apple, candy floss or churros😋)

Entertainment is also on the programme, and the reputation of the spectacular pyromusical show that brings the festival to a close on Monday evening is well established. It’s THE unmissable folk festival in Haute-Vienne! ✨

2. ‘Back to School, It’s Cool’ Festival

in Oradour-sur-Vayres

This festival of circus, music and theatre for all takes place every year, just after the start of the new school year (the first or second weekend in September). This much-anticipated event in the West Limousin takes place in the town hall grounds in Oradour-sur-Vayres, from Friday to Sunday.

Two large big tops and outdoor entertainment await you with a programme of live performances: circus cabaret, dance, fairground games, clown acts, aperitif concerts… Humour and poetry are never far away 😉. “La rentrée c’est class” is THE festival not to be missed, offering moments of emotion, surprise and joy for young and old alike.

3. Nostalgia for the Past

in Champagnac-la-Rivière

This is an unmissable event for enthusiasts of vintage cars from the 1950s and anyone who loves a good time. At the end of September, every two years, the Rétro Machine Bandiat Tardoire association invites you to enjoy a unique experience with the locals: step back in time to the heart of the 1950s and take part in the ‘Nostalgie d’antan’ parade on foot, in vintage vehicles, and in costume!🤩

During the event, enjoy an old-fashioned market, displays of traditional trades and crafts, a “jumble sale”, and much more. In short, vintage at its best! With self-guided or guided tours of the village, enjoy stepping back in time to that era in a Limousin village transformed for the occasion. A retro atmosphere is guaranteed!😉
