Parachuting site for supplies to the Limousin Resistance during WW2, the area known at the time as "la verrue" (the wart) is located at "La Gaubertie", in the communes of Aixe-sur-Vienne and Séreilhac.
To pay tribute to the various acts of bravery performed by the local Resistance fighters, particularly those of Commandant Pinthe, who led the parachuting operations, his descendants decided to mark this place of remembrance by installing (in partnership with the communes of Séreilhac, Aixe-sur-Vienne and the Val de Vienne community of communes) a commemorative stele and an interpretation panel explaining the events that took place there.
The stele, inaugurated on September 17, 2023, was created by local sculptor and stonemason Mickaël Restoin.
