Description
Listed as a Historic Monument since 1910, it is one of the most important fortified churches in Haute-Vienne. Partially destroyed by the English in 1371, only the walls of the first two bays of the nave and those of the north transept remained standing. It was expanded and fortified in the early 15th century. This building, 30 m long and 6 m wide, is a true defensive structure featuring machicolations, loopholes, culverin ports, a refuge chamber, and a well. Only the bell wall on the west side is not actually fortified. Its early 13th-century portal, featuring four arches resting on a frieze-capital, is in the Limousin style.
