According to researchers, this chapel was built in honour of Saint-Roch in 1432 by a pious lady who owned the locality known as "la Courrière". This rudimentary construction was undertaken in fulfillment of a wish. The lady, a prominent figure of the time, had prayed for the Saint's intercession on behalf of the livestock on her estates, which had been literally decimated by a contagious disease whose dreadful effects were felt throughout the region and for many leagues around. The chapel was rebuilt several times, and some improvements were made, notably shortly before the Second World War, when it was topped by a modest bell tower.
