Land of Games label

Limoges, now awarded the “Terre de Jeux 2024” label, is fully committed to the Olympic and Paralympic adventure 🥇

This distinction, awarded at the Association des maires de France congress, testifies to the city’s involvement in promoting sport.

By joining the first 500 municipalities honored by the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Organizing Committee, Limoges is demonstrating its sporting dynamism and its commitment to encouraging the practice of sport on a daily basis 💪🏻

This label opens up new perspectives, offering Limoges an exclusive identity linked to the Games, privileged access to their information and events, as well as increased visibility to promote its actions and its territory 🔥

DID YOU KNOW?

Limoges, already recognized for its sporting dynamism as an active and sporty city, was among the first to be awarded the Terre de Jeux label in November 2019.

In partnership with Limoges Métropole and the Conseil Départemental de la Haute-Vienne, it has submitted its bid to become a Preparation Center for the 2024 Games.

The Paralympic Flame

On August 26, 2024, Limoges will have the honor of hosting the Paralympic Flame relay, selected by the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games organizing committee.

The event, scheduled over four days from August 25 to 28, will mark the second day of the relay in France, where the 12 flames will progress simultaneously across the country 🔥

The relay will start at 5:30pm and end at around 7-7:30pm with the lighting of the Olympic cauldron on Place de la République.

The route, starting from Place de la République, will cross several of the city’s emblematic arteries, offering a vibrant and festive spectacle 🧡

In parallel, entertainment will punctuate the day, offering everyone the opportunity to celebrate this major event 🎉

The 6 selected training sites

  • The Aquapolis and Beaublanc pools in Limoges, as well as the Saint-Pardoux lake, will be the venues for swimming, triathlon and water polo for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
  • The Robert-Lecomte departmental sports complex in Limoges will host fencing and judo competitions for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
  • The Henri-Normand gymnasium in Limoges will be the venue for handball, wheelchair rugby and goalball.
  • The Beaublanc sports park in Limoges will be ready to welcome basketball, soccer and rugby 7-a-side.
  • The Basse complex in Limoges will be reserved for BMX competitions.
  • Finally, Villasports in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche will host table tennis and wrestling events for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
