At a glance
Adrien Dubouché Museum in Limoges

And that’s just as well, because the Musée Adrien Dubouché isn’t just about tableware: you can choose from around ten themed tours using the “MNAD Limoges” application.

“I don’t want to see a plate”, “Unmissable works”, “Contemporary art”, “The journey”, “The artists”, and so on. A selection to suit everyone’s tastes, from among the 5,000 works on display!

Want to get off the phone📱? With the family trail, a mysterious sketchbook will also be fun with children aged 7 and over.

Or there’s simply the traditional discovery tour: with a circular route, there’s no chance of going round in circles! From the stages of porcelain manufacture to the history of ceramics from Antiquity to the present day, the richest collection of Limoges porcelain in the world awaits you.

We love: the “Works in 3D” tour, where you can virtually manipulate the museum’s objects 😉

Immersion at the heart of know-how

In the "Cité du cuir" (Leather museum) in Saint-Junien

The “Cité du cuir” in Saint-Junien takes visitors to the heart of the expertise that has shaped the town’s identity for centuries. Housed in a converted industrial site, this living museum traces the history of leather, from traditional tanneries to the glove-making workshops that have made Saint-Junien internationally famous.

Objects, machines, first-hand accounts and demonstrations help visitors to understand the techniques and daily life of the workers. An immersive and authentic visit, ideal for discovering the industrial and human heritage of Haute-Vienne. 🧤

Get your hands dirty!

Le Moulin du Got in St Léonard de Noblat

You don’t come here for the flour, but you do make your own pulp… for paper!

A 15th-centurypaper mill, the Moulin du Got will teach you all about sheets of paper, from how it was made by hand to the first continuous paper machine. You’ll be put through your paces during the guided tour, but aprons are optional. 🤭

After the blank sheet, the printing press! 🖨️

Gutenberg, typesetting and the linotype will hold no secrets for you. The museum is a place of demonstration and production, providing hands-on experience for active and exciting visits.

What we love about the Moulin du Got is that it’s also a creative space open to artists.

Don’t forget to sign up for one of the graphic arts workshops – there’s something for young and old alike. 🖌️

Memory of the servicemen of Haute-Vienne

Museum of the Resistance

The Limousin is known for being a land of strong and active Resistance during the Second World War.

Located in the heart of the town, the Musée de la Résistance et de l’Occupation (Museum of the Resistance and the Occupation) boasts a wealth of objects (including an aeroplane!) and documents dating from the 1939-1945 period. Dedicated to the men and women who sacrificed their lives to defend the values of the Republic, it is an essential place of remembrance.
For a family visit, we recommend a minimum age of 8 because of the difficult subject matter.

With the free “Résistance en Poche” application, 8-13 year-olds (and their parents😉) will be helped by virtual friends from the period to understand the events from 1933 to the end of the War, and win medals! 🎖️

Enamel, the beauty !

Limoges Museum of Fine Arts

A majestic building in the heart of the historic Cité district, and the Bishop’s gardens overlooking the Vienne valley… That’s a great start! And it’s just as beautiful inside.

From paintings by Renoir or Suzanne Valadon to the Egyptian antiques that everyone loves, it’s the enamel collection that has made the Musée😍 internationally famous! The arts of fire, enamel… It’s impossible to get to know Haute-Vienne without visiting this former Bishop’s Palace.

What we love about the Musée des Beaux Arts is the itineraries on offer: with “l’humeur du baladin”, there’s a visit for every mood! Themed leaflets can be collected from reception (great!) or downloaded, and take you on a tour of a selection of works chosen according to a theme or your mood of the day – original, isn’t it?

So, will you be more of a “blue flower”, a “stickler for detail”, or will you be in the mood for “stars in your head” or “taking the freedom to laugh”?

It’s up to you to choose from 10 itineraries and take advantage of them to visit the museum again and again. The collections are so varied that you’ll love going there, strolling through the gardens or along the banks of the Vienne, then coming back, before strolling through the narrow streets of the Cité.
