Frairie Des Petits Ventres Limoges
La Frairie Des Petits Ventres1. La frairie des petits ventres What is it? 🧐
What you need to remember from this event to be a real Limousin! ☝️
The Limoges Frairie des Petits Ventres is a gourmet event that has been attracting 40,000 people every year since 1973. You’ll find plenty of sweet and savoury Limousin specialities.
Organised by the Old Limoges Association, this event celebrates the memory of Limoges’ once-powerful butchers’ guild.
In fact, at number 36 rue de la boucherie, you can visit the traditional butcher’s house, complete with the tools and fittings of the time!
2. Start the day at Les Halles
of LimogesThe gastronomic marathon begins at Les Halles de Limoges! 🍽️
Get off to a good start with a coffee at the Ilôt des Halles or the Bistrot des Halles and soak up the atmosphere, with the bustle of traders’ stalls, the smell of food coming from the stalls and all kinds of chatter.
We recommend stopping off at the Pascalain stand and sampling the Limousin chestnut fondant. The only prerequisite? You have to love chestnuts! 🌰
This chocolate-covered chestnut heart fondant pastry will knock your socks off. 🍫
For the savoury team, you can enjoy tripe, the traditional pâté de pommes de terre and many other fresh products!
As you can see, at Les Halles, we invite you to wander between the various stalls and arouse your curiosity.

From Les Halles, head to the Boucherie district and wander between the stalls of the various producers. La Frairie sets up shop here, but also in Place Saint-Aurélien and Place de la Barreyrette.
Find tripe makers, butchers and restaurateurs offering 100% Limousin local produce, all to the rhythm of folk groups. 🎺
On the menu for meat lovers: andouilles, andouillettes, boudins noirs, boudins blancs, kidneys, amourettes, tripe…
For the sweet team, set off to discover flognarde, Limousin à la châtaigne and many other Limousin specialities. 🍏
When it comes to drinks, try the apple juice from Limousin or beer from the local breweries.
4. Time for a break!
Once you’ve had your fill of the local specialities, we suggest a little digestive stroll. Visit the Cour du Temple, just a 5-minute walk from the Boucherie district. You’ll discover a haven of peace in the middle of a pedestrianised area.
Take a diversion to Place Saint-Michel, home to the great basilica of Saint-Michel-des-Lions.
Take a seat at a terrace table before heading back into the city. ☕️

The break is over! Back in the Boucherie district, come along to the inauguration of the site by Limoges Town Hall at 6pm. At the same time, the statue of Notre-Dame-de-Pitié (Our Lady of Pity), also known as Notre-Dame-des-Petits-Ventres (Our Lady of Small Bellies), will be borne in procession, to recall the tradition of the butchers’ ladies, who in the 19th century celebrated the Virgin under this name.
Refuel with Limousin specialities until 10pm, when the Frairie des Petits Ventres closes. 🥩🍏
