Day 1

A day in 1900

It’s amazing how much rural life has changed in the space of a century! ⌛

In Montrol-Sénard, the history of the village offers a real insight into the heritage of the Limousin and the daily lives of our ancestors. As you wander through the old buildings, you’ll rediscover objects that our grandparents still used not so long ago… Depending on your curiosity, the visit takes between 1 and 2 hours and is entirely free of charge.

When the bells of the old church chime at midday, it’s just a short stroll to La Table du Lavoir, a restaurant that celebrates cuisine in the image of Montrol-Sénard: simple, generous and authentic.

Then, why not try your hand at a pottery workshop in the afternoon? Florence Paulet opens her workshop all year round and offers sessions for all ages and levels, ideal for getting your hands in the clay and letting your creativity flow 🎨

And to extend your discovery, the village of Mortemart is just next door and is one of the most beautiful in France…

We love it!

We love the freedom and simplicity of this day ☺️

As they say: “Chabatz d’entrar”. And Montrol-Sénard is the perfect embodiment of this. Here, everything can be done on foot, at your own pace, without fuss or crowds: just the pleasure of strolling around and letting the village tell its own story. The houses are simply open, inviting visitors to push open the door and discover their history like leafing through a family album.

The diversity of the locations (old-time school, shoemaker’s shop, blacksmith’s forge, clog maker’s workshop, farmhouse) offers a different story at each stage, sometimes surprising, always fascinating. We move from room to room as if time had stood still, carried along by the unique atmosphere that makes Montrol-Sénard so charming.
