Find the perfect stone for Valentine’s Day

Which legend stone suits you best? 🪨🩶 Here’s a list that could help you find your soul mate, be happily married or simply spend an original afternoon with your other half this Valentine’s Day. Warning, results not guaranteed, the magic of these stones is quite mysterious…🤫
At a glance

1. A ring on your finger within the year

Ceinturat menhir in Cieux

Lulled since your earliest childhood by fairy tales, do you dream of love landing in your life? 💘

No big ball until midnight or apple to crunch, our own legend is much simpler: all you need is (a little) skill.

Dating back to Neolithic times, the Ceinturat menhir is the most imposing in Haute-Vienne. Rising more than 5 metres above the ground, it is also buried 2 metres deep.

Its legend promises weddings within the year for anyone who manages to throw a stone onto its ledge halfway up💍

It’s worth making a diversion to the Monts de Blond, isn’t it?

2. Finding love easily

Pierre Belle in Bessines sur Gartempe

It’s said that in Bessines sur Gartempe, no one knows loneliness on the evening of Valentine’s Day. 🥰 A mysterious stone is said to help you find love… so there’s no need to scroll endlessly through dating apps, we’ve got just the stone for you!

Pierre Belle is a granite bowl cut to form the basin of a fountain 5 metres in diameter and 25 tonnes in weight, the origin of which is unknown.

The ancients claimed that you had to walk around the edge of the basin seven times to find your soul mate.

Let us know if it works!

3. Being happily married forever

Saint Ferréol rock at Nexon

You probably know the expression “And they lived happily ever after, to the end of their lives.” Well, these people have surely been for a walk in the grounds of the Château de Nexon 🏰

There, hidden amongst the 39 hectares of parkland, is the Saint Ferréol rock. On their wedding day, the newlyweds come to the rock to make sure they’ll be happy forever!

As well as taking a great photo, you can enjoy a romantic stroll through the park: English river, waterfall with a pond in the middle of the woods, rocks… You’ll also find the 19th-century chapel just around the corner.

4. Finding a husband

Menhir of the Croix-Parot in Nantiat

Candlelit dinners, film evenings and romantic getaways– all you have to do is ask! Thanks to the Croix-Parot menhir, a husband will (apparently) be delivered to you within the year for a modest sum… 🤵‍♂️

Originally a pagan monument, it has given rise to many legends over the years.

Just like this stone, ancient traditions have endured to this day: young girls place pins on it in the hope of finding a husband.

Beyond this monolith, there are many paths leading to Nantiat for romantic walks in the great outdoors.

5. Offer your heart

The heart of the giant at Compreignac

No promise of love or marriage here. Just a sad romantic legend 💔

Near Fairy Rock lies an oddity: a heart buried deep in the rock.

From this shape comes a dark tale. The giant “Granquibol” is said to have fallen madly in love with a shepherdess. But his love was not reciprocated, so he let himself die on the rock and his heart remained engraved forever…, gradually drying up.

If only the giant had known the legend of Pierre Belle…

For Valentine’s Day, this is a great place to come and take a few photos with your other half.
