DID YOU KNOW?
There’s no room for boredom on the megalith trail! Explanatory plaques can be found on most of the megaliths along the route, explaining the history and legends of each stone.

Our selection of Legends stones

Unique in shape, these rocks have inspired local people since the dawn of time. Mystical stories have been passed down from generation to generation…

Take 11 short breaks to discover the 11 legendary stones:

  • Menhir du Pic (Javerdat).
  • Arnac cup stone (Cieux).
  • Rouffignac dolmen (Javerdat).
  • Menhir of Ceinturat (Cieux).
  • Stone of Sacrifice (Cieux).
  • Mushroom Stone (Cieux).
  • Shelter of the Roche aux Fées (Cieux).
  • Boscartus Rock (Cieux).
  • Dolmen and rocks of Puychaud (Blond).
  • Dolmen de La Lue (Berneuil).
  • Dolmen de la Borderie (Berneuil).

Beware, this is a very rocky and legendary path

Along the way you will find eleven legendary stones, some of which are more exceptional than others:

  • The wobbly stone
120 tonnes balanced… and yet it moves! With a little energy, you can make it sway from east to west. In days gone by, it was used as a court of law: if the accused could move it, they were innocent. See for yourself 😄
  • The Roche aux Fées shelter
These rocks are said to be the ruins of an ancient fairy palace. In any case, science confirms a long history of human occupation, from prehistoric times to the Bronze Age. Below, a waterfall stream meanders through an impressive granite chaos, a wow effect guaranteed ✨
  • The Ceinturat menhir
At 5.10 m, this is the tallest menhir in Haute-Vienne (and it’s still 2 m buried!). Come and measure yourself against this giant… and try your hand at the legendary game: if your stone reaches the ledge halfway up, you’re guaranteed to get married within the year. Get ready to throw!💍
