A 177km loop of nature, panoramas and charming villages to discover in 9 days.

Between the Mont Gargan, the Lac de Vassivière and Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, this brand new route will take you on a tour of the must-sees in the south-east of the Haute-Vienne. 👀

GRP® Monts et Barrages in Limousin

The GR® de Pays Monts et Barrages en Limousin is 177km of adventure in the heart of the Limousin, a brand new 9-day itinerary through the south-east of the Haute-Vienne. 🥾🌿

This trail links emblematic sites such as Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, the Mont Gargan and the Lac de Vassivière, offering walkers an immersion in a variety of landscapes: forests, moors and characterful villages. 👀

This project, approved by the FFRP and led by the PETR du Pays Monts et Barrages in partnership with the Comité départemental de la randonnée pédestre de la Haute-Vienne, aims to connect existing routes (GR®4, GR®654, GR®440, GR®46) to provide a coherent local roaming offer.

Route connection

This new 177km, 9-day trail links several national GR routes:

GR®4: from the Atlantic to Provence, crossing the Haute-Vienne.
GR®654: the route to Santiago de Compostela via Vézelay.
GR®440: tour of the Limousin mountains.
GR®46: from Tours to Toulouse

By connecting these routes, the GR® de Pays Monts et Barrages en Limousin creates a strong territorial coherence, highlighting the area’s natural and heritage riches. 🌿

This project aims to structure the hiking offer in Haute-Vienne and promote sustainable tourism that respects the environment. 💚
