In 1908, a 19 year old English student, Thomas Edward Lawrence, became fascinated with the medieval period.
To finish his thesis and live his passion, he decided to tour France by bicycle. Following the trail of Richard the Lionheart, he arrived in the summer of 1908 in Périgord, near the castle of Montaigne.
