A land of livestock farming since time immemorial, the creative craftsmen and women of the Limousin have been able to exploit and draw inspiration from the resources that surround them. As early as the 11th century, tanners and leatherworkers were numerous in the region, notably in Saint-Junien, and played a major role in the region’s economic and industrial development. Now more than ever, luxury leather goods manufacturers and Haute Couture designers enjoy a privileged relationship with Saint-Junien’s glove makers: Hermès, Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent, Mugler… Throughout Limousin, talented craftsmen create exceptional products that make the region famous the world over.
