1. Lac de Vassivière

Come and discover carnivore fishing on the lake in the heart of Limousin. The lake has an impressive population of predators and offers a wide range of fishing spots where you can learn to fish or improve your skills: wild islands, a sublime setting, numerous spots – you’re undoubtedly in the kingdom of predators. All the conditions are there to make the most of your fishing session, whatever your technique. 🎣

The fishing regulations in force on the lake are those for 2nd category fish. Fishing is open from 1 January to 31 December, but varies depending on the species.

2. Lac de Saint-Pardoux

Discovering a mischievous and generous nature

The Lac de Saint-Pardouxis a major tourist attraction in the Haute-Vienne, set in the heart of a protected natural area and a favourite spot for anglers. In fact, it is home to a population that is not visible to the naked eye… So make the most of it and enjoy a good spot of fishing! 🐟

This 330-hectare lake has 50 hectares devoted exclusively to fishing, enough to satisfy all your desires and pleasures!

An ideal place for carnivore fishing, the lake is also home to other fish populations that might interest you.

Our 3 favourite spots: the Puyperier cove, renowned for its pike-perch and black-bass, and the Fréaudour and Villebert coves, renowned for their pike ♥️

The lake is classed as a 2nd category fishing lake and is open all year round for you to enjoy this activity. 📆

Please note that to fish on the lake, you must have a Club Halieutique sticker and a fishing licence. ✔️

Please note: you can also fish on private ponds.

3. The Vienne - From Limoges to Saint-Junien

The Vienne, a waterway renowned for its abundance of fish, offers several kilometres of beautiful stretches ideal for carnivore fishing. Pike-perch and pike are the most sought-after catches, but it’s not uncommon to come up against some fine black-bass in certain areas. 🎣

Here we go, taking you with us on this journey from Limoges to Saint-Junien. We hope you’ve got your hook and net ready? 🧐

Fishing for pike in the 2nd category of fish begins on 25 April 2026, for pike-perch lovers until 15 March and then from 13 June 2026. The official opening for black bass is from 1 January to 15 March and from 4 July to 31 December 2026 (all dates in the fishing guide). 📆

With a total length of over 2,000 km, the Vienne’s tributaries are as numerous as they are varied. The quality of their waters and the presence of numerous species of fish make them all ideal for fishing.

4. The Maulde dam

The Maulde, a magnificent, unspoilt little river in a natural setting much appreciated by nature lovers, is a real playground for anglers. 💦

Our favourite spot:

The Saint-Hélène dam lake in Bujaleuf, a body of water classified as 2nd category piscicultural, with a surface area of 56 hectares, it is a paradise for carnivore fishing: pike-perch, pike-perch, perch and black-bass are not in short supply! 🐟

A large part of the riverbank is accessible, with numerous jetties and several fishing pontoons. Fishing competitions are regularly organised along the banks of the lake. 🚣‍♀️

5. The Taurion dam

Attracts by its beauty and calm

The beauty and calm of the Taurion, a French river, attracts a multitude of anglers.

Our favourite spot :

The Lac de barrage de Saint-Marc (Pont du Dognon), a body of water classified as 2nd category for fish, with a surface area of 130 ha, is a paradise for carnivore anglers. 🎣

It is located in the commune of Saint Laurent les Églises, in the wild, unspoilt natural setting of the Taurion Valley, a Natura 2000 site.🍃

This is a popular spot for nature lovers and anglers, as it offers great fishing opportunities, all in magnificent surroundings. It boasts a wide variety of carnivorous fish (pike, zander, perch) and white fish (roach, rotengle, tench, bream), as well as night fishing for carp.

In terms of history, the Pont du Dognon, made up of three arches whose ends rest on three piers, was built in 1929 to replace a 19th-century stone bridge. 🌉

This is the most famous bow-string in Limousin, making it a dream spot for fishing enthusiasts.
