MEET OWNER VANESSA GAY
in Saint-Jean-LigoureA journey of adaptation
Originally from the Périgord region of France, Vanessa’s move to the Haute-Vienne region with her husband had already given her a few initiatives in mind when she decided to set up a wellness project.
It was in 2021, when she visited this authentic Limousin house in the small hamlet of Longequeue, that the charm took hold. The future owner fell in love with the place! Admittedly, the house hasn’t been lived in for 10 years, but the most important thing is already there. It’s the natural surroundings, the simplicity, the freshness, the peace and quiet, and above all the greenery that’s second to none.
The origins of the project
An idea emerged in 2018 while Vanessa was working in sales. At this stage, she’s only at the beginning of something… and not yet considering a full-time activity. 2019 is the year that will give the impetus to this life change. A burn-out invites itself into her life, leading to her dismissal, just as she is heading for a retraining in the field of sophrology, closely followed by the pandemic. This period gave a deeper meaning to her project, giving it a direction in line with her identity, her relationship with others, with nature… with her history. Above all, she wanted to offer a place where couples, families and friends could meet and recharge their batteries. Renovated in part by themselves, the challenge is to restore the vestiges of the past that are still present, to revive the soul of this house and make it a timeless universe. They received financial assistance from the Haute-Vienne department, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and the Pays de Nexon – Monts de Châlus community of communes, as part of their support for business real estate.
Les 3 Clefs de GaYa, an original identity that makes perfect sense. Composed of her name “Gay” and the last letter of her first name “A”, with an allusion to her son GA-bin and her husband YA-nn, GaYa (Gaïa) is the Greek goddess of the Earth. A nod to the unspoiled nature of the Limousin that renews our connection to the harmony of life. Finally, the ancient writing of the 3 keys represents the value of authenticity and the equipment already present (sauna, hydro bed and swim spa) that opens up to well-being and to oneself.
Future developments
Vanessa’s future project would be to complete her offer by opening 2 additional gîtes on the estate (forming “Les 3 Clefs de GaYa”). These would beunusual accommodations, in the form of earthen or buried houses. They would be comfortable and environmentally friendly. Meal baskets created in collaboration with local producers are also already being developed. Here, stays are adaptable and à la carte. Whether full board or half board, Vanessa’s concept is to organize a stay that’s just right for you. At the heart of this charming house, there’s room for everyone, and children and pets are never a hindrance to the hostess.
A diverse region
The Haute-Vienne has so many hidden treasures, but Vanessa remembers above all the past grandeur of the medieval festivals at Lastours. A land of chivalry, it’s true that our region boasts a rich heritage, and she particularly recommends the nearby site of Châlucet. This unspoilt setting inspires you to recharge your batteries and dream a little. And it’s in this little corner of natural freshness that Vanessa offers her sophro-balades, combining well-being and discovery.
The pleasure of sharing an open-air practice!
