THE PLEASURE OF GETTING TOGETHERIN BUSSIÈRE-GALANT

Meeting with Mireille and Dominique at Gîte Unalhome

Both from Limoges, it was in 2018 that Mireille and Dominique fell under the undeniable charm of a character house and its derelict barn, in the heart of the village of Bussière-Galant. With its typical Limousin architecture, granite stonework and uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside, the house had everything they needed for a quiet, green lifestyle.

The call of nature

Previously a printer for 35 years, Dominique and Mireille are fully committed to the project, adapting it to their image. Here, many of the objects and furnishings are vintage or misappropriated. Now hosts, each is also pursuing his or her professional career in other areas of their lives: Dominique as a cook in a collective kitchen, and Mireille as a territorial manager with the Vienne – Briance – Gorre drinking water syndicate. These adjustments to their schedules still enable the couple to offer their visitors a high-quality welcome and accommodation. Finally, after self-financing and a few months of rolling up their sleeves to turn the premises into a veritable haven of peace, Mireille and Dominique were able to turn their dream into reality and open the premises in 2020, after a year and a half’s work.

Discovering the area

Ideal for a stay or a weekend with family and/or friends, the gîte has 11 individual beds that can be grouped into double beds. There are no fewer than 4 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and toilet. One of these is on the first floor. Spread over 150m2, the house boasts a functional kitchen and a spacious living room, opening onto a sunny terrace and ready for you to enjoy your best summer evenings with the barbecue. Plus, a large heated outdoor swimming pool overlooks the surrounding countryside.

Located at the gateway to the Périgord and in the village, Dominique and Mireille’s accommodation is also within easy reach of a variety of local shops and services (bakery, florist, media library, grocery store, etc.) and the Espace Hermeline, the largest leisure park in the southern Haute-Vienne region, where you can practice bike-riding and accrobranche, among other activities. You come here to take your time, recharge your batteries, sample the local gastronomy and savoir-vivre and, above all, to find yourself and others.

Future projects

In the coming years, the couple would like to add a bread oven to the garden, and a sauna if funds permit. Trained as a chef, Dominique will also be delighted to offer his table d’hôtes.
