1. The Museum of Mineralogy and Petrography

A visit to the Musée de Minéralogie et Petrographie d’Ambazac takes you far, far back… to the origins of our planet! Explore this exhibition on no less than three levels, where you can observe an impressive collection of 3,000 mineralogical and 500 petrographical samples, fossils and rocks from all over the world! 2. Espace Izis

Ambazac

The exhibition of photos by Israëlis Bidermanas bears witness to the talent of one of the greatest post-war photographers, who took refuge in Ambazac during the Second World War. His black-and-white images immortalized everyday post-war scenes, as well as many of the artists who were a source of inspiration for the man who was also a reporter for the Paris Match newspaper.

3. Espace Valadon

Bessines-sur-Gartempe

To enter the Espace Valadon is to plunge into the atmosphere of Montmartre in the age of the post-impressionist painters. Come and retrace the history of Suzanne Valadon, the famous painter born in Bessines-sur-Gartempe, and relive the events that marked her life through, in particular, three copies of her paintings that you can admire.

5. Urêka, the Mining Museum

Relive the adventure of uranium mining and the daily lives of miners through a fun, interactive journey that immerses you in this part of Limousin’s history. The tour takes you deep underground to a mining site from the 50s to the 90s, as if you were there! And to make the experience even more fun, take part in the museum’s escape game! The scenario? You’ve got one hour to find the Galena, which has been mislaid by the lab assistant, so you can create the galena station of the future!
