A route accessible to all

A route recommended for people with reduced mobility (PRM)

The Voie Verte des Hauts de Tardoire is an ideal route for people with reduced mobility (PRM). 🚲

Designed to ensure that traffic flows smoothly and safely, it allows everyone to enjoy a walk through the heart of the Haute-Vienne countryside. 💚

Between forests, viewpoints and landscaped corners, this accessible route invites you to explore in complete peace of mind, whether with adapted equipment, with a pushchair or simply for an easy and enjoyable stroll. 🌿

A green route with the Tourism & Handicap label

The Hauts de Tardoire greenway, located in the Haute-Vienne region between Châlus and Oradour-sur-Vayres, is an itinerary built entirely on a former railway line.

It is 13 km long, with a smooth, safe surface, and is accessible to all, including people with disabilities. 🍃

It has been awarded the Tourisme & Handicap label, guaranteeing that all types of disability are catered for: motor, visual, hearing and mental.

Designed as an inclusive space, this greenway allows people to walk in complete autonomy and safety, with no motorised traffic, a gentle gradient and adapted facilities along the way. 🚲

An accessible and inclusive exhibition space

At the start of the greenway, in the old railway station in Châlus, a reception area has been converted into an accessible scenographic space. 👀

This area offers a number of features designed for different disabilities:

Audio terminal providing access to practical information and discovery of the site.
Interpretation panels translated into Braille, facilitating access to content for the visually impaired
Clear, educational information material, suitable for a wider audience.
In addition, the greenway also offers audio-guided walks, providing accessible immersion in the area’s natural and cultural heritage. 🎧

Specialised equipment for adapted practice

One of the great assets of the Hauts de Tardoire greenway is the wide range of suitable equipment available for hire on site.

The equipment on offer includes

  • Recumbent tricycles for greater stability
  • Pusher bikes to accompany a person with reduced mobility
  • Quattrocycles (four-wheeled bicycles)
  • Electric all-terrain wheelchairs (quad bikes)
  • Tandems and electric bikes

These devices allow everyone, whatever their level of independence or disability, to enjoy the route to the full.

Facilities designed for everyone's comfort

All along the route, there are facilities for disabled visitors:

Accessible picnic areas
Regular benches for resting (approximately every kilometre)
Appropriate signage and clear signposting
