Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul are two of Champagnac La Rivière?s five "good fountains". The origins of the fountains are not well known, but they already existed in the early days of the evangelization of the Limousin. The relationship between devotional fountains and the Catholic religion is at the heart of the subject. During the period of Christianization and up until the 13th century, the Church constantly fought for their disappearance. Unable to do so, it decided to make them its own. Each fountain was given its own name, and legends featuring the saint concerned were created to provide a Christian framework for their origins. The fountains were said to have the virtue of curing fear.
