The first evocation dates from the beginning of the 16th century for the current castle. The old castle was placed in the middle of the pond of this name. It was reached by a causeway cut by a drawbridge. It was inhabited until 1756 by the Chauvet family and until the Revolution by the Martin family, lords of Nantiat and Fredaigue. The towers were razed to the ground during the Revolution and it is only when the pond which borders them is emptied that the foundations are clearly visible. Some of the houses, although altered, give an idea of the layout of the castle and its outbuildings as they must have been at the time.
