On August 04 1944, the Wehrmacht searched for Jews and resistance fighters. Men, women and children are herded into Ambazac?s central square. All the men wait at gunpoint. Abbé Landon courageously offered himself as a hostage to protect his parishioners, but the Germans drove him back to his church, where he had nothing left to do but pray. He promises that if the population is spared, he will build a chapel with his own hands.
