As part of its exhibition "Un train peut en cacher un autre? le Pays Monts et Barrages et les chemins de fer", the Pays d?art et d?histoire is offering a tour of the only village in the region to combine train and departmental tramway: Eymoutiers. The train arrived in 1881, while the electric tramway got off the ground in 1912, thanks to the nearby Bussy dam, which supplied electricity to the towns it passed through long before the rest of the country! Discover the history of these 2 railroads, which revolutionized communications between the end of the 19th and the middle of the 20th centuries, their heritage (old stations, engineering structures, etc.), and previously unpublished archive documents? Jean Riboulet, a local councillor from Eymoutiers, will present the project to restore the former tramway station (currently underway) and its potential future use.
