This is a play in German adapted from David Foenkinos?s novel Charlotte, written by Jürgen Genuit of the Théâtr?Action association. Born in 1926, Charlotte Salomon was a young German painter of Jewish origin who was murdered in Auschwitz in 1943. She produced over 1,300 gouaches in primary colors, and her personal story is painfully affected by Germany?s National Socialist history. This piece retraces her destiny, sheds light on her work and is accompanied by the classical music that was so much a part of her life as an artist.
