The Sainte-Marie-de-Vaux forest is home to an exceptional millstone extraction site. The only one of its kind in the Haute-Vienne, the Chaise du Chasseur site has been known to archaeologists for 10 years, and has now been excavated.
A visit to the site will plunge you into the medieval history of this quarrying activity. A two-voice lecture will then be given at the Sainte-Marie-de-Vaux village hall, by medievalist Catherine Faure and Jean-Guy...
