Given the urgency of the climate, where transport is responsible for almost 77% of tourism-related greenhouse gas emissions in France, and the changing expectations of customers, who are placing increasing importance on sustainability issues and aspiring to a more respectful exploration of the regions – with a particular interest in “slow tourism”, mobility has become a crucial issue. It is at the heart of discussions on future tourism models.
The Comité régional du tourisme de Nouvelle-Aquitaine and ADEME are committed to responsible tourism and sustainable mobility. As part of this commitment, they have created several joint tools to support regional tourism players (particularly accommodation providers) in implementing their ecomobility approach:
- A practical guide entitled “L’écomobilité touristique – comment être acteur de la mobilité bas-carbone des voyageurs”, a new, updated and enriched edition of the document initially published as part of the “En Bretagne sans ma voiture” initiative (launched in 2013 by ADEME and the Comité régional du tourisme de Bretagne);
- An “Ecomobilité touristique” self-diagnosis tool, designed to support accommodation providers in their efforts to identify local ecomobility offerings (local transport networks, existing services in the area, etc.), but also to enable them to assess the degree of maturity of their approach and identify more precisely their strengths and areas for improvement;
- An “Ecomobility” communication sheet, enabling accommodation providers to encourage their customers to choose “low-carbon” modes of transport, by providing them with detailed information on the accessibility of their establishment.
