MAD Jacques in Limousin

The Haute-Vienne took a breath of fresh air with the MAD Jacques. From 27 to 29 June, it was an unusual and invigorating interlude with the MAD Jacques, a life-size adventure that brought together 370 “Jacquots” from all over France for two days of hiking, canoeing and outdoor festivities. It was a joyous cocktail of slow adventure and good fellowship.

Some breathtaking stages

It all starts with a walk from Jourgnac to the Château de Losmonerie in Aixe-sur-Vienne. An 18km bucolic warm-up before the next day’s event: a 13km canoe trip down the Vienne, between mills and white water. After the day’s hiking, a convivial bivouac in the superb setting of Château de Losmonerie in Aixe-sur-Vienne: large tables, entertainment and a brass band for a convivial evening.

Great moment: the setting alight of the MAD JACQUES flame by Mme MORIZIO president of LIMOUSIN nouveaux horizons after the welcome speeches by Mrs THOMASSIN, mayor of Jourgnac, BARRY and MEYER, president and vice-president of the Communauté de Communes du Val de Vienne.

The next day, after canoeing, the group arrived in Saint-Victurnien, where a festive bivouac awaited the “Jacquots”, with foodtrucks, music, entertainment and a mini-market featuring local producers. Mr DUCHAMBON, mayor of Saint Victurnien, was on hand to greet the participants in this race unlike any other.

In the wake of the MAD JACQUES, beyond the festive and sporting side, there is a commitment to protecting the environment through its partnership with Surf Rider Foundation via a waste collection along the course and information stands, but also conferences around the themes of travel and sustainable tourism.

A region that dares to be friendly!

Supported by SPL Terre de Limousin, as part of the LIMOUSIN Nouveaux Horizons brand, this edition of the MAD Jacques is not just a breath of fresh air: it’s a life-size demonstration of the Haute-Vienne’s tourism potential. It’s an often little-known region that has everything it takes to appeal to young working people looking for a weekend away from it all, a gentle adventure and some real time.

And what better way to showcase all that than with an event that’s a little offbeat, but sincerely friendly?
