Capacity of marketed accommodation

Tourist capacity

Carrying capacity represents the total 🛌 tourist accommodation (market and non-market) available in an area for one night’s stay. This value is expressed in available beds. Tourist carrying capacity is essential for tourism planning and management.

All tourist beds

Capacity represents the total number of tourist accommodations available in a given area. This capacity is an essential indicator to monitor both quantitatively and qualitatively. It is always defined in terms of the number of “beds”, and represents the area’s potential to accommodate a certain number of tourists per “night”.

The overall capacity of the Haute-Vienne is around 107,000 tourist beds, which means that the department can potentially welcome more than 100,000 tourists per day.

Definition of tourist beds (unit of measurement of tourist supply):

Market accommodation

In 2023, Haute-Vienne will offer 21,2000 commercial beds in over 1,300 establishments. Capacity has remained stable, with campsites in the majority, followed by furnished accommodation and other vacation rentals, then hotels.

Haute-Vienne is characterized by its urban hotel capacity (80% of hotel beds are in Limoges-MĂ©tropole), which is available all year round, and by guest houses spread throughout the region, including rural areas.

Only one in two outdoor establishments is classified. Large-capacity rental accommodation is holding steady. Group accommodation and vacation villages are stabilizing. Limoges MĂ©tropole accounts for 27% of the department’s total accommodation capacity, followed by Haut Limousin (16%) and Monts du Limousin (10%).

Market accommodation accounts for 20% of total capacity in Haute-Vienne.
