What is a campsite?
DefinitionBefore embarking on the adventure of campsite management, we recommend that you contact your local town hall or community of communes to find out about local regulations and the necessary authorizations. In particular, talk to the town planning officer. There are many regulations governing the establishment of a campsite.
Setting up a campsite involves several stages, from choosing the legal status to obtaining planning permission and building permits.
There are three possible types of campsite
- registered campsites, with a maximum capacity of 20 occupants and 6 pitches. A declaration must be made to the town hall using Cerfa form n°13404*06, and planning permission obtained. Although administratively lighter, this type of accommodation must not be limited to the provision of a water point and WC only;
- serviced campsites, which can accommodate more than 20 campers and more than 6 pitches. It is designed to accommodate tents, caravans, mobile leisure homes and light leisure dwellings. It is made up of bare pitches or pitches equipped with one of these installations, as well as common facilities.
A development permit must be submitted to the town hall using Cerfa n°13409*06. The campsite can only start operating once a declaration of completion and conformity of the work has been submitted to the town hall, using Cerfa form n°13408*04 ; - residential leisure parks, for the specific installation of light or mobile leisure residences such as mobile homes or chalets. There are no bare pitches for tents or camper vans, and the plot must be at least 200m² in size.
