Qualification of accommodation for hikers

Welcoming hikers and bicycle tourists to Haute-Vienne

SPL Terres de Limousin and the tourist offices are proposing a qualification charter for accommodation for hikers, horseback riders, mountain bikers and cyclists. This qualification applies to both overnight and overnight establishments. Ideally located along or close to hiking trails (around two kilometers), these establishments can also be close to cycling routes (around five kilometers) such as véloroutes, voies vertes or cyclotourism loops.

The Hikers' and Cyclists' Welcome Charter

The SPL Terres de Limousin is setting up a charter for the qualification of accommodations welcoming hikers, horseback riders, mountain bikers and cyclists. This qualification applies to overnight and holiday accommodation that complies with the specifications provided by Terres de Limousin.

The establishments can be stopover gîtes, bed and breakfasts, small rural hotels, tourist residences, group gîtes, vacation villages or any other type of accommodation that welcomes hikers for a stopover.

They should preferably be located on a hiking route (Sentiers itinérants du département, Sentiers de Grande Randonnée GR, Sentiers de Grande Randonnée de Pays GRP, bridle paths, mountain bike circuits, etc.) or nearby (around two kilometers). They may also be close to a cycle route such as a véloroute, voie verte or cycle tourism loop.

B&Bs or vacation villages offering star circuits from their accommodation can join the charter, provided they are located in areas that are predominant in terms of hiking: Monts d’Ambazac, Monts de Blond, Chemin de Traverse autour du Lac de Saint-Pardoux, Chemin de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle, Plateau de Millevaches, PNR Périgord-limousin, etc.).

They must also be affiliated with a national accommodation label (Gîtes de France, Clévacances, Bienvenue à la Ferme, Accueil Paysan, Rando Accueil, classified hotel…) or a departmental recognition.

Finally, they must be able to accommodate at least 6 people. In the case of group accommodation, at least two places must be left free for hikers.

Free application. Duration 3 years.

Why get the label?

The Accueil Randonnées charter is a guarantee for customers that their accommodation is suitable for hikers. It enables network members to be identified by hikers through dedicated communication (specific logo, prominence on the Terres de Limousin website, social networks and publications, communication on the network accommodation website, etc.). Accueil Randonnées promotes the sharing of experience through annual meetings of network members.

How do I get the label?

Contact Terres de Limousin or a Tourist Office. An appointment will be set up and a technical inspection will be carried out on site. The departmental award committee will deliberate and give its opinion.
