Stefano Danna, the host of the cité district

Stefano, and hospitality made in Limousin

In the post-Covid period, Stefano felt the need to change his life. After leaving Paris and the world of publishing, he settled in Limoges, where he opened his guest house, Les Allois, in October 2023. In the heart of the Cité Médiévale district, this beautiful 18th-century building has been completely renovated and offers rooms and suites with themes inspired by the region. There’s also a large covered terrace and garden from which you can admire Limoges Cathedral, the city’s landmark.

Stefano Danna

For me, Limousin exudes simplicity in the good sense of the word, and a certain gentle way of life.

As soon as I arrived, everyone helped me, opened their doors to me and took an interest in my project. Even though I haven't been in the Limousin for very long, I can testify that from the moment I arrived and settled in, I was very warmly welcomed.

When people ask me what it means to be Limousin, I'd say it's above all knowing how to welcome others by taking an interest in them. It's a far cry from the black image fashioned and then widely disseminated by the Parisian elites. It's this same welcome that I want to reserve for all those who pass through my guesthouse.

His presentation …

My name is Stefano Danna. Italian by birth, I grew up in Paris, where I spent my entire professional career as a journalist. But after 30 years, I wanted a change of profession and environment, so I decided to resign in 2022.

Having family ties to the city of Limoges, and commuting there regularly for my former job, I decided to settle there.

From there, I started looking for a place to open a guest house, which had been my dream for several years.

The Maison des Allois was just what I was looking for, and I was immediately drawn in. After 10 months’ work with local people, I opened in October 2023.

The place to be in Haute-Vienne

Quite simply, Limoges! I think a lot of people who come to the Haute Vienne are capable of discovering the region’s rivers, lakes, forests, villages, nature parks and castles. But many people who pass through tell me they are pleasantly surprised by the city, its neighborhoods, its green spaces, its interesting cultural life between its museums and the activities it offers.

Limoges is exactly the kind of city that people now need, in a post-covid era. A town in the country small enough to cultivate a sense of belonging and develop all kinds of support networks, and big enough to find everything you need. It’s a real gateway to the region, worth staying for more than one evening.

“If we’d known, we’d have stayed longer. We’ll be back for the city. That’s what my guests often say to me when they leave Les Allois.

3 good reasons to adopt LIMOUSIN nouveaux horizons

🍃 It’s all about pride and a sense of belonging to a community of inhabitants, renowned industrialists, craftsmen with great expertise, and tourist sites. A real spider’s web is being created.

🍃 It’s contributing to the region’s influence and attractiveness.

🍃 It’s about making the tourist a traveler in Limousin.

For the anecdote, I came across Nicolas Dangles’ article, which made me want to book a van to discover the region in June.

His pride...

It’s obviously the realization of this house.

My project essentially depended on the place where I could welcome people. It had to be a place steeped in history, ideally located and offering all the comforts necessary for this type of activity. I wanted to be in the city rather than out in the countryside, so as to be part of the local tourist fabric, while at the same time participating, in my own way, in the life of the neighborhood. I believe that my pride lies in the success of a beautiful eighteenth-century building that meets the requirements of today’s tourism.
