Guillaume, the castellan ambassador of the LIMOUSIN new horizons destination

Guillaume cultivates his passion at the heart of his Losmonerie estate: botany. Between the magnificent Renaissance château and the verdant setting of its remarkable gardens, you can hear the murmur of the Vienne River. It’s a place conducive to slowness and contemplation, allowing you to reconnect with yourself and with the natural world around you. 🍃

"For me, Limousin is about being part of a region, even a country that you love and value. This country is all about forests, water and biodiversity, but it's also about the rough, authentic side of things".

His presentation …

I’m Guillaume De Villelume, owner of Château de Losmonerie, built in the 16th century during the Renaissance period, located on the banks of the Vienne river, and which boasts a set of 3 gardens with the “Remarkable Garden” label.

The first is the “Jardin formel et fleuri”, a formal flower garden laid out around the historic buildings.

The second is the “Jardin de framboises et la promenade gustative”, a fruit garden with the largest collection of raspberries in France, with 100 varieties, and rare fruits in Limousin such as asiminis, cido and yuzu.

The last is the “Jardin Sauvage”, with Emmanuel Puybonnieux’s wicker hut on the banks of the Vienne river. It’s a fine example of biodiversity conservation.

Inside, you can admire the “Monument Historique” listed furniture, as well as temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. Children’s games focusing on biodiversity are also freely available.

The place to be in Haute-Vienne

I’d like to introduce visitors to the Jonchère arboretum, a magical place with two particularly noteworthy areas: the redwood valley, where a specimen made the journey to St. Petersburg and back by train in 1897 to receive a gold medal, and the Japanese cryptomerias wood, a veritable cathedral of smooth white trunks. It’s a botanical treasure trove and an escape into a dreamlike world.

3 good reasons to join LIMOUSIN nouveaux horizons

  • For me, it means being part of a committed network that develops tourism in Limousin, and the image of Limousin as a destination.
  • It also means weaving this network by helping each other.
  • And last but not least, it means directing tourism in a sustainable and local direction, with a commitment to preserving biodiversity.

His pride...

What I’m most proud of is the fact that I’ve developed a label garden with 2 important orientations today. The first is nourishing taste and the second is a commitment to biodiversity.
