Discover the Richard Lionheart Route
The Route Richard Cœur de Lion is an itinerary of discovery located in the south-west of the Haute-Vienne, stretching from the Charente to the gateway to the Dordogne and Corrèze regions. In the heart of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, the circuit covers almost 200 km, with 23 sites open or accessible to the public. The route is signposted with a header: a crowned lion with a heart pierced by an arrow, recalling the tragic fate of Richard the Lionheart at the Château de Châlus Chabrol, where he was seriously wounded by a crossbow bolt in 1199.
