At a glance

1. Le Clos de l'Arthonnet

in Flavignac

If you love the murmur of water and birdsong, this is the address for you. The property extends over meadows, woods, a river and springs in an unspoilt, authentic setting: the Périgord Regional Nature Park. Organic farming is practised here. The guest house has its own independent entrance: you can ask Marie-France, who is never stingy when it comes to sharing her good addresses. She imagined this place in harmony with nature: the Limousin farmhouse has been restored using healthy materials. The thick walls are plastered with lime and chestnut is used in the furnishings and decor.

With a view to preserving the environment, this accommodation adheres to the eco-friendly practices of the Gîtes de France label. The Arthonnet stream will lull you to sleep after a day’s walking or bird-watching: the estate is classified as an LPO (League for the Protection of Birds) refuge. 18 hectares are open for walks. The Flavignac migration observation site is nearby. Here you can see skylarks and sandhill cranes: ideal for relaxing and dreaming with your nose in the air!

2. Hélène's gardens

in Bersac-sur-Rivalier

Are you craving open spaces and healthy, gourmet meals?

Les jardins d’Hélène is the perfect place to do both. First and foremost, it’s an organic farm that welcomes you. The guest house opens onto a terrace with a breathtaking view of nature and the famous gardens. It’s close to the family home and the small direct sales shop, so you can stock up on the good stuff! Be warned, we’ve adopted dry toilets and eco-friendly practices here: respect for nature is an integral part of the place.

We’re also well placed for hiking in the Monts d’Ambazac: a little exercise and fresh air to take care of yourself. During your stay, you can take part in the picking and cooking of your harvest at the end of the day. It’s great to enjoy fruit and vegetables at sunset on the terrace… And let’s not forget the delicious breakfast with fresh fruit and jams from the orchard!

3. Le Moulin des Combes

in Dompierre-les-Églises

A former eighteenthᵉ century mill, nestled in the Limousin countryside, where time naturally slows down. Here, people come to reconnect with the essentials, in a place committed to eco-sustainability, natural health and permaculture. The light-filled, spacious gîte can accommodate up to 12 people in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with no wi-fi in the living areas, so you can really disconnect.

Three jacuzzis at different temperatures, an infrared sauna and a hammam create a bubble of well-being in the heart of a living garden. A permaculture vegetable garden, orchard, farmyard, animals and pond complete the experience. A green and inspiring interlude, ideal for refocusing in harmony with nature.

4. The bird house

in Bujaleuf

A change of pace for a few days, in tune with nature… Does this seem impossible in your fast-paced everyday life?

We know where you can take a break: at Manuel and Anne’s home in Bujaleuf. Just a stone’s throw from the Lac de Vassivière, they have built their house in unspoilt countryside. To minimise its environmental footprint, it’s a single-storey, Limousin-style barn. Everything is made of wood, from the insulation to the cladding. No television (or available on request), no internet, and the use of healthy and organic products so as not to compromise the phytodepuration; everything is provided so that your stay is in harmony with nature.

So, ready to unplug?

5. Camping Junora

in Eymoutiers

Environmentally conscious campers, say goodbye to tiny pitches and the smell of your neighbour’s cooking: Junora gives you space in the middle of nature! Each pitch is 150 m² with a vegetable garden (flowers, herbs and vegetables), picnic table and parasol. This ecological campsite has its own solar-heated swimming pool.

The materials used are natural and eco-responsible, and the views over the countryside are breathtaking. It is located 3 km from Eymoutiers in a 10-hectare estate in the Parc Naturel Régional de Millevaches in Limousin. It’s a lively place, where you can have adventures during the day, light a fire in the evening and enjoy the silence at night (with the occasional owl call!).

6. Camping at the Rucher Ân'imé farm

in Cieux

Sleeping in the heart of a beekeeping farm, surrounded by animals and lulled by the calm of the Monts de Blond: that’s a fine definition of an eco-responsible holiday. At Rucher Ân’imé, camping on a farm is a simple affair, with just a few pitches, to preserve the tranquillity of the site and respect for living things.

Try the spacious and comfortable “Mongolian” tents, or pitch your own tent in this cocoon of greenery. Dry toilets, a shared kitchen, showers and beehive products to taste on site complete the slow spirit of the stay. Here, you can take the time to observe the bees, meet the animals, take part in creative workshops… and, above all, experience nature to the full.
