Every August, the Tour du Limousin brings together the professional peloton and cycling enthusiasts on a course renowned for its challenging terrain. From the steep roads of the Haute-Vienne to the fiercely contested finishes in Limoges, the event offers four days of fast-paced racing, daring breakaways and free public celebrations right alongside the riders. It’s the perfect way to get caught up in the excitement by the roadside and discover the ‘ Limousin ’ through the lens of sporting endeavour.

A sporting adventure

The Tour du Limousin, established in 1968, is a stage cycling race held in the Limousin, now extended to the Périgord and Nouvelle-Aquitaine regions. This competition aims to showcase the region’s landscapes and cultural heritage whilst providing a top-level platform for professional cyclists.

The tour usually comprises four varied stages, attracting international teams and encouraging people to discover the region’s treasures through a popular and festive sporting event 🎉.

Since 2021, the race has been known as the Tour du Limousin – Périgord – Nouvelle-Aquitaine to reflect the inclusion of a stage in the Dordogne in its route.

What’s on

This annual cycle race, which takes place over four days in August, winds its way through the varied landscapes of the Limousin 🤩.

The 2026 edition will pass through the Haute-Vienne and include stages in Veyrac, Nantiat and Limoges.

This tour attracts 19 professional teams and offers intense competition, whilst showcasing the local heritage and culture with a range of activities for spectators.
